WELCOME TO MR.DAD

Are you about to become a first time father?  Are you ready for the rollercoaster ride that is fatherhood?

Do you have unanswered questions or concerns and don’t know who to ask for help?

If this is you, then mr.dad is here to help!

WHAT IS MR.DAD?

mr.dad is a one-off antenatal and early parenthood class for expectant fathers.

Many of the participants tell us that they were relieved to find out that other men shared the same fears and concerns about becoming a new dad, and were also unsure of how to best prepare themselves for the labour, birth and early parenting.

mr.dad has been specifically designed to alleviate these fears and provides information that is both male-friendly and male-orientated.

During the class you will have the opportunity to talk about any issues that are on your mind related to becoming a new dad and encouraged to ask questions about your new role as a parent and what you expect of yourself. You will learn about babies and how to look after them in the early days and you will learn the benefits of interacting with your baby while gaining valuable skills in caring for your newborn.

The class will not only prepare you to better support your partner during labour and birth but we will discuss issues such as sex, the effects of having a baby on your relationship, postnatal depression and the financial pressures of starting a family.

mr.dad is a must for all men who want to better prepare themselves for fatherhood and the many challenges and adjustments ahead.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

WHO IS MR.DAD?

  • DALE BALLENTINE

    midwife . father . educator

Trained as a midwife (non-practicing) and father of 3 boys (including twins), Dale is well aware of the demands and responsibilities men experience when starting a family.

With experience working in the largest and busiest maternity hospital in Australia Dale believes that most men today not only want to gain the knowledge and skills that will help them to best support their partners during labour and birth, but also want to learn how to engage with their children for the benefit of both the child and the family.

Dale has a keen interest in the mental health of the new father and how this impacts on their relationships and wellbeing.
